When we moved into our house in August, we were both in agreement that the kitchen needed some major help. We finally found time to start on our big remodel over Christmas break. The day after Christmas was spend demolishing the existing cabinets and replacing the window. Then we had to replace the sheetrock where the existing backsplash had been and then have a little electrical work done. We bought our cabinets from IKEA and every cabinet came in pieces that we assembled and then installed all by ourselves. We replaced everything from the cabinets, countertops, window, sink, faucet, paint, backsplash, floor and baseboard trim. My aunt Joni helped us texture the walls and Ed put the formica on the countertops, but other than that we did everything ourselves, including the tile floor and backsplash. We even faux painted the walls to look like suede! My favorite part is that now we have a dishwasher. Its not perfect, but we think its good enought to brag, i mean blog about. The two pics above are before and the rest are after! Enjoy!
