New Year's in Island Park

We just returned from spending New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at the cabin in Island Park. We planned on going up there on Sunday, but Doug wasn't feeling well, and we thought the roads would be better monday anyway. Mike and Sheila, Shane and Jessica, Curits and the three of us all went to spend the holiday together. As soon as we got there, we all bundled up in our snow gear and headed out for a ride on the snowmachines. I had never really expreienced this before and the one thing I learned was that no matter what, your face is going to be COLD! After a couple of hours we went back to the cabin where Sheila and Blake were hanging out and we ate dinner. Doug and I made peach cobbles in our new dutch oven. We cheated a little cause we didn't actually use brickettes, we just simply put it in the oven, but it still turned out great! The VanOrden's had never played Idiot (the card game) and after showing them how, they instantly fell in love and we ended up playing it over and over again! Neither Blake or I stayed up to welcome the New Year. There wasn't any confetti or party hats, but it was a great way to celebrate the New Year! It is so beautiful up in Island Park. All of the trees are so pretty and there was probably four feet of snow. Sorry to saw, we forgot to take our camera with us, so no pics this time! We are looking forward to a wonderful year in 2008!
